YourTown Health is proud to announce that it will take part in Congressman David Scott’s 13th annual health fair on Saturday, August 19th. Everyone is invited to the free event, which will be held at Mundy’s Mill High School, 9652 Fayetteville Road, Jonesboro, from 9am until 2pm.
The YTH team will provide free dental screenings as well as free health screenings for blood pressure, depression, HIV, and body mass index (BMI). Also, anyone who visits the booth will receive a voucher to come in to the YTH clinic for free lab work including thyroid screening, hepatitis C and blood lipids (cholesterol and triglycerides).
The health fair coincides with National Health Center Week, which is August 13 – 19. Events will be held all across the country to celebrate. National Health Center Week was started to create awareness of the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers, which serve more than 25 million people, often in areas medically underserved. They have become the key to healthier communities in our country’s search for affordable primary care. They not only prevent illness and promote wellness, community health centers treat patients for a fraction of the average cost of one emergency room visit. Because of their record of success in reducing chronic disease while managing health care costs, they have a proud tradition of bipartisan support in Congress.
