“Lenz On Business,” a one-hour business talk show on WSB Radio, featured Jon Wollenzien, CEO of YourTown Health, as its special guest on the July 30 episode. Wollenzien’s appearance coincides with the upcoming National Health Center Week, taking place August 6-12.
Wollenzien discussed a variety of topics, from the history of the community health center program in America to YourTown Health’s unique place among the healthcare landscape.
“The most important message that I could share about the community health center program is by the simple fact that we across this nation, all 14,500 unique community health centers, provide highly coordinated and integrated care to our patients,” Wollenzien said during his interview.
Wollenzien explained that community health centers such as YourTown Health stimulate the economy by providing preventative services and managing chronic diseases to those facing limited access to affordable, quality healthcare.
Additionally, he said that community health centers save American taxpayers more than $24 billion a year collectively in healthcare costs.
“How do we do that?” he said. “Because we’re seeing people locally, we’re seeing them in their community, we’re keeping them out of the emergency rooms, and we’re keeping them out of the hospital and out of higher cost providers.”
Wollenzien said YourTown Health will be celebrating National Health Center Week in a variety of ways, including inviting local politicians to tour the facilities and encouraging them to advocate for community health centers. Other activities include community CPR training, open house events, staff appreciation and recognition, and more.
